I received an interesting email today. It was from a friend in Evansville who had received a call polling on behalf of either Mayor WeinzapfelTaxzapfel or the Democrats.
There are several questions, but clearly they are trying to figure out what this guy can do next, if anything.
The first part of the poll focused on message:
-View of various Arena selling points
-View of various Arena arguments
-View of various options for Roberts Stadium
-Opinion on Budget Cutting proposals.. Pay freeze, cut pension contributions, make police pay for their own uniforms, subsidies to museums, ambulance subsidies, close fire houses, etc.
-Opinion on City/County Consolidation
The poll than got more into Taxzapfel’s future: First up friends and enemies, do you like them or not.
-Cheryl Musgrave, Troy Tornatta, Jonathan Weaver, Rick Davis, Eric Williams, Lloyd Winnecke
Now the good stuff specifically on Taxzapfel himself:
-Favorability for a potential run for Governor.
-Does he have the vision to lead local government to the “next level”
-Does he follow through on what he promised.
-Opinion of his management of taxes.
-Opinion of his management of the budget.
-Opinion of who is to blame for the homestead tax credit removal: City Council, County Council, Commissioners, Bill Fluty, or Mayor Weinzapfel.
-If he should promise to fill out a full term if he runs for a third term.
This probably took place mid to late last week, so assume 3 days of polling. I would say they should have some results by now. My guess is that if you don’t hear anything about it, than it was bad news for the Mayor.
Next question, what’s the odds anybody in the media ask him for the results? I’m curious to see what he found out.
